    Is KB2976897 safe or not?

      MS still have it listed, so they think it’s OK. If you wait until the 28th the latest patch watch newsletter will be out – if you don’t get it you can upgrade to a paid subscription.

      I have that update on my two Win 7 laptops without any problems – it would seem to be just the ones in this MS article that have been problematic that you should uninstall if you have them http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2982791

      Agreed. Have the update installed on a Win7 laptop and 2 Win7 desktops. So far so good.

      I recently had to restore this laptop with a system image I’d created last month and when I re-did the WUs, I only had 12 instead of the original 13 I had for this month.

      Doing a search of Installed Updates, this update is not installed so I reckon that is also one that MS have pulled.

      While some haven’t had any problems with it installed (and I didn’t), it would appear others have and MS are no longer offering it – so I’d leave it off for now.
