After installing a few MS patches “in the blind” left me in the hurt locker, I’m a faithful follower of Susan Bradley. But her column yesterday left me puzzled. In the next-to-last section entitled Catching up on Aprilโ€™s nonsecurity updates, she wrote the following:
Nonsecurity patches for Windows:
[*]KB 2800095 โ€“ Wudfhost.exe crashes with smart cards
[*]KB 2908783 โ€“ Data corruption with iSCSI LUNs
[*]KB 2928562 โ€“ Event 55 after encrypted folder is moved

– What to do: Office 365 subscribers using Click-to-Run will automatically get these updates silently in the background. You should be on either Office 2010 Version 14.0.7122.5000 or Office 2013 Version 15.0.4605.1003.

As an Office 2007 user, I’m wondering what I should do with KB 2800095 (which WU wants me to install)? I’m not really a computer wizard, so maybe I’m missing something in her advice?

Thanks —

I am in the same position – I recently had a complete crash due to a previous patch – something no-one needs especially as it’s my work computer….. Added to the problem as yours above, the version of my Office 2010 is 14.0.6029.1000. How do I get it up to 14.0.7122.5000, as suggested by Susan?
Wish I was a computer fundi, but I’m not. ๐Ÿ™

If you are an Office 365 subscriber your Office installation will be automatically updated. If you have a different Office 2010 SKU then you can click on the PowerPoint patch link in the article which will take you the the Microsoft KB article where you can download it. Or just run Windows Update and install it.

Those lines you quote were preceded by, “April’s other nonsecurity updates are good to go. They include:”
