As a new user of Woody I have just been reading through the AntiVirus forum. Read a lot about Norton and the freebee’s but nothing about Kaspersky which seems to have a good rating in the mags. Anyone want to tell me their experiences with this product?

AskWoody LoungerNovember 6, 2007 at 3:35 pm #1082657Welcome to The Lounge! I’ve never used the product, either in suite or antivirus only form. It has been mentioned a lot here, but if you search The Lounge you’ll have a lot of reading to do that just mentions it without opinion.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 6, 2007 at 11:41 pm #1082718I downloaded a trial of the Kaspersky Internet Security suite. I was annoyed by its firewall component, but had no bad experiences with its antivirus component. The company claims to have better technology than everyone else in its current version (it licenses its older version to ZoneAlarm), but I haven’t seen any tests of that claim.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 8, 2007 at 2:51 pm #1082916Many thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts about Kaspersky … its now on my machine having dumped the preloaded Norton.
So easy to deal with Kaspersky, easy download, easy payment (for someone like me – an Aussie living in Norway also needing English software) which enabled me to pick the currency in which I wanted to pay thus avoiding ‘extra’ bank conversion charges.
I guess that the most important part is that it should work!

AskWoody LoungerMay 17, 2008 at 8:26 am #1109558Hei,
I have previously used Norman (for 5 years), Norton Symantec (for 3months … preloaded on new pc) and now Kaspersky since late last year. I dumped Norton because of ‘attitude’. My vote is with Kaspersky. It seemsto be a very professional product, flexible, easy to configure and understand and above all they (at Kaspersky) actually love to help with any queries! As to which gives the best protection I have to rely on expert opinions but Kaspersky seems to be highly thought of among those who do the reports. Will I be renewing … yes.
Good luck
