    Dear Loungers,

Does anyone know how to keep the last line of a justified paragraph from defaulting to left alinement? If so, can you do it for the last line of the first paragraph of the attached document and then let me know how you did it?

    Best regards,

    JMT

You can get pretty close by using Shift-Enter to justify the last line of the first paragraph, and then setting the font size of the extra blank paragraph to 1pt.

Using a continuous section break instead of a hard paragraph return at the end of the paragraph seems to work, especially if you put a few shift-entries throughout the paragraph to spread the text out a bit, to tighten the spacing of the last line.

I’m not sure if this accurately preserves the 6pt-after spacing. Looks close anyway.

The shift-entries would be tedious if you have more than just a couple paragraphs needing this configuration, but the section break could probably be done globally.

Use a Shift-Return, or, in your case, maybe two Shift-Returns instead of a regular Return between paragraphs. Note the this will not work if, in the compatibility options, you have instructed Word to NOT justify lines ending in Shift-Return.

But that disturbs the space between paragraphs – StuartR indicated how to get around that.

I hadn’t seen StuartR’s post before I posted. And obviously I didn’t carefully read the OP’s request. I apologize for that.

          Cheers,
          Pam

No need to apologize – you tried to help, and that’s what counts smile

              Thank you all!

Actually, Pam C, your suggestions work better in a different context–when using bullets (implementing StuartR’s suggestion causes the size of the bullets to shrink–see attached). StuartR’s suggestion works better in the context I posted. I actually needed responses for both contexts, so thanks both!
