I suspect that by the time Windows 11 is ready for release, you will be able to upgrade. I think the requirements MS has imposed will be only for OEMs, while for upgraders with existing computers they will be reduced to recommendations. There’s no way to know until it happens, but that’s still months away, and the moment that 10 goes out of support is still years away. If MS loosens up the requirements anytime before then, you’re not going to be stuck without a supported version of Windows.
Dell XPS 13/9310, i5-1135G7/16GB, KDE Neon 6.2
XPG Xenia 15, i7-9750H/32GB & GTX1660ti, Kubuntu 24.04
Acer Swift Go 14, i5-1335U/16GB, Kubuntu 24.04 (and Win 11)
Dont lose faith in your PC (and your abilities). I know, its frustrating. Microsoft attitude is:
Throw enough sh*t at the wall and some is bound to stick.
You can disagree with Microsoft, but if you continue to use its <sarcasm> awesome and secure operating system AKA Windows 10</sarcasm> you cant escape the circle of frustration.
Usually thare are troubleshooting options with Windows update. If you please could specify what is going wrong (or the error itself), maybe we could help you with your issue.

Here’s the kind of sh*t Microsoft may be throwing at me:
Look at the attached image, from a run of the latest version of WhyNot11, recommended in the freeware section of a recent AskWoody Plus newsletter.
Notice that the only point on which my PC “fails” to be ready for Windows 11 is the processor. It’s a Skylake 6th Gen Intel chip.
What will happen if I do run Windows 11 (through some sort of Registry Hack or otherwise) on this chip? Will the PC overheat? Will it run excessively slowly (with 16 GB RAM installed)? Will some features not run on this chip (6th Gen core-i5) which will run on an 8th Gen Intel core-i5 chip?
This is getting beyond ridiculous.
