Jump Lists in Windows 10

I have just “updated” to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

For some reason Jump lists do not seem to be working for Word 2007 and Excel 2007 after the upgrade.

Any thoughts? I am probably not looking in the right place.

I have tried un-pinning Excel and re-pinning but that did not work. There is an item in Settings for the Start menu but not the taskbar.

BTW I have done the tweak to add Jump List functionality to the Start Menu, but no new files are being added.

For those who want to try out Jump Lists with the new Start Menu, just follow the steps below.

​Open regedit.exe (Win+R)
Navigate to: “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced”
Create a new “Dword (32-bit) value”
Name it “EnableXamlJumpView”
Set its value to 1
Restart PC

But as I say, new files opened do not appear on the Jump Lists, either on the Task Bar or in the Start Menu.

It looks like I have found the solution which works in Win 7 and 10.

I hope others find it useful.

Jump List…that is corrupted in AutomaticDestinations-hidden system folder is the likely solution.. To resolve and fix the issue, follow these steps:

Open Windows Explorer .
Type or copy and paste the following into the address bar:

%AppData%MicrosoftWindowsRecentAutomaticDestinations
Identify files that are comparatively larger in size than the rest of the file, such as files that have file size of 1 MB or more.

Delete the abnormal file.

Tip: If you do not want to retain the Jump Lists’ recent items history on all applications, just delete all the automaticDestinations-ms files in the folder.

The recent items functionality on Jump Lists will be restored. The recent items on the Jump Lists will be re-added as the program is been used. However, do note that the solution does not restore the previously pinned items. So user will have to pin new items again.

This worked for me.

 

Open Explorer then click View.
Look for Option then click drop-down key and choose “Change folder and search option”. A new Windows will appear. In “Privacy” make sure that “Show recently used files in Quick Access” and “Show frequently used folders in Quick Access” is checked.
In the “Open File explorer to:” choose “Quick Access” in the drop-down list.
