Journal entries for contacts disappear (2000)

Hi,
Anybody who could suggest what I might be doing wrong. When I go to contacts, and for example make a phone call, or write a letter that later I can remember when I made the call, I opened Journal, , and wrote what I did.
Later, I looked for the entry, by looking within the activities tab in contacts, but I don’t see anything. Anyone know why.
