AskWoody PlusApril 27, 2020 at 6:42 pm #2256054I’m glad you DID, because I’ve never heard of these guys before. Now I have to go watch a bunch of their videos.
I have to admit, though, that I physically cringed when they sacrificed a laptop in this one!!! I almost never junk a computer, unless it’s so woefully beyond repair that it’s past any hope of salvage, at which point I try to cannibalize it for parts. (Hopefully it was all but defunct, or they have great repair skills.) Example: My present laptop is about seven years old and running pretty well, and the one before that is twice that age and functions fine as a Linux Mint tinkering platform.

Agree. I cringed when I saw that. I still use an old Windows 95 computer that is now over 25 years now. Plus one of my client has an ATM machine that has old Windows 98 so I have to have several old either working or parts as well to fix it when need. My current computer is a Windows Xp. The newest laptop has Windows 7. I have not got Windows 10 since it is the worse OS ever. Never plan to get it.

Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

AskWoody PlusApril 28, 2020 at 12:02 am #2256198Had another visit to the Dentist today…came back and saw THIS…this was the first good laugh I’ve had in DAYS! (Yes, it hurt, but I was laughing so hard I couldn’t stop!!)
Goldberg has a worthy successor…
But is this some sort of visual analogy on how Windows patches are made?

If/when I go to YouTube – on my laptop browser if I clear cookies and on IOS – if I clear cookies, will that clear out YouTube trackers? If not, how do I clear? I use Duckduck go browswer on IOS and it has an auto clear option. I clear my cookies regularly on Firefox on Windows. thanks.

AskWoody LoungerApril 30, 2020 at 4:43 am #2257752I have “DuckDuckGo privacy essentials” plugin in my chrome, which states, that can protect me against tracking tools. Also every day I run Malwarebytes to detect unwanted guests. I do not delete cookies periodically, just once in a while. Must say, that dont use 3rd party antivirus, just Windows Defender in Windows 1809 Enterprise.
Also I must state, that I do not visit any potentially dangerous sites like “adult” sites, or torrents on my computer.
I visit youtube A LOT, and if there is tracker in youtube link, what can we do about it?Dell Latitude 3420, Intel Core i7 @ 2.8 GHz, 16GB RAM, W10 22H2 Enterprise

AskWoody LoungerMay 1, 2020 at 8:10 am #2258114Same here, Defender, Duckduckgo, Malwarebytes, try to not to go to any unknown/suspect sites (I run virustotal on url’s and files). I have Adblock +, HTTPS everywhere, Privacy Badger. Still, I don’t trust sites like You Tube and wonder what they are tracking, how can I ensure I am not being tracked.

AskWoody LoungerMay 1, 2020 at 7:04 pm #2258264Many thanks for this heads up! One of the commenters mentioned that this what happens when engineers have too much time on their hands. I suggest that this brilliant young engineer did not have enough time, else he would have been able to get a pepper grinder to work from a drone hovering over his dinner plate. Anyway, this old man (and another Woody, BTW) was tickled by the video–even if it meant dealing with You Tube.
