    I just has a popup message informing me of a Java update as I do regularly. I clicked to install and received the message shown below. What’s going on? Or am I displaying another layer of ignorance again?

      My guess is that we will see these sorts of messages more often in future.

      With Vista, there is a greater demand from the operating system for verification of security status. Digital signing is supposed to make us more sure that the software we are installing is safe. But manufacturers and software developers have to pay (through more hoops to jump, if not with actual cash) a premium to get this further accreditation

      This looks like the start of it. I get it when I install Kyocera drivers on XP machines. I just figure if I know where the software came from I can afford to trust it.

      You could allow downloads like this by going to Internet Options> advanced>Security and setting it as shown.
