Keep getting errors during the restore process and process stops… Why can’t apple get there stuff to work with WIN7? Help!

      Steve Hi and welcome

What version of iTunes? there were some reported problems with 9.x. 10.x is out. You should also check device manager to ensure all your usb drivers are installed and working

      Here is how
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any “unknown devices” with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

      good luck

      Steve,

I’ve been using my 2nd gen iPod in Win 7 64 bit for sometime now. No problem. However, recently my iTunes would no longer work. I had to re-install iTunes to get everything to work as it is suppose to. If your iPod works OK as a stand alone then look to iTunes as being the problem. BTW…uninstalling iTunes is very difficult and must be done in a very specific manner. All Apple /iTunes software including Bonjour must be uninstalled in a certain order to properly delete all registry items. Look up “removing iTunes” on Google before attempting.
      Good luck.

I agree with this post. Removing iTunes is a real problem. After a crash or two, I think that there was a lot of junk left in the Windows Registry. Now I know enough to use Regedit but it is not for amateurs. So even utilities which claim to remove all traces of a program don’t always get the junk; at least that is my experience from Windows start till now. It is best to really uninstall iTunes in the order that Apple tells you to remove it. But if you find problems, go to someone who knows Windows and especially iTunes and have the Windows Registry searched for old links which may be reinitiated by a new install of iTunes. I don’t know that this is the problem but I got my problems solved that way.

By the way, I had a problem with my iPhone notes not syncing with Outlook Notes and found that if the first line in an Outlook Note was blank, iTunes will not sync with the Outlook Notes. This is any Note, not just the first one. That seemed to solve my problem.

I use JRiver (free) it works well with both 1&2 gen shuffles on both xp and win7 64 bit:bananas:. As far as getting rid of ITunes I used Revo uninstaller pro it scans the reg and for loose files too.
