Many, many thanks for these direct links. I had gone to Google several time to down load iTunes and the first search was to apple.com. So I went there and the Apple link to download to PC gave me a the following banner that said go to Microsoft Store.

iTunes 12.12.0.6
Update 7:15am ET: Apparently this bug is not limited to the Microsoft Store version, it also affects the standalone 12.12.06 .exe installer.
Update 11:35am ET: Over on Stack Exchange some users have confirmed that the iTunes update will install if the host system is set to English (US):
I have the original iTunes downloaded from the link you gave me some time ago. I just opened that and it gave me an update available box so I just installed from that and seemed to work fine. I only use the iTunes to create a phone backup as the time or 2 I used it to update the cell it took hours. Now I just go ahead and do the IOS 14.8 with the phone connected to WIFI and it only takes 30 or so minutes.
What is new in these builds? Did they remove sync to Outlook Contacts?
Back to Microsoft store and fixed OS language related bug.

Does this version kill the sync of Contacts and Calendars? If not, is there any good reason to update? I do not want to lose my sync.
Aren’t you thinking of iCloud, rather than iTunes?
Dell E5570 Latitude, Intel Core i5 6440@2.60 GHz, 8.00 GB - Win 10 Pro
I am not. It was announced this feature to be deprecated in iTunes. One example:
https://www.akruto.com/support-for-syncing-contacts-and-calendar-deprecated-itunes/
I do not and choose not to use iCloud. And iTunes has worked so well at this since my first iPhone.
Another:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212377
Many if you search for this. And I’d prefer to keep the current iTunes and not update unless forced to for a good reason.

Sorry, I had not realised that iTunes offered (past tense) this facility.

The deprecated syncing is with outlook.
I don’t use Office / outlook.
You can still sync contacts and calendar with iCloud.

Yes, it will.

kills syncing contacts and calendar with outlook
What has iTunes to do with killing syncing contacts and calendar with outlook ?
You are probably confusing iTunes with iCloud.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/troubleshoot/user-interface/icloud-crashes-sync-data
I am not. iTunes during sync syncs contacts and calendar with Microsoft Desktop Outlook and has for years. I am not confused.
Several months ago they said it will be deprecated. When the version that removes that feature comes along, I will no longer update iTunes.
For just ONE discussion of this:
https://www.akruto.com/support-for-syncing-contacts-and-calendar-deprecated-itunes/
“Do you sync your iPhone or iPad contacts and calendar with iTunes? Are you concerned about getting the following message on iTunes? “Support for syncing contacts and calendars has been deprecated and will be removed in a future version of iTunes.””
Google is your friend:
NOW – is this the version that deprecates that feature?
Thanks.

@rebop2020 I’m guessing this version may be the one. I have a client complaining this week about his Outlook not syncing now through iTunes. Not sure of versions just yet as I plan on tackling it this weekend. I’m hoping uninstalling itunes and re-installing an older version will get him back. Really don’t want to have to restore an old image and backups.
I wonder though if maybe a software update on his phone may have caused or contributed to the issue.

Likely it is this version and little else. No phone changes have ever affected this feature for me.
This is not unexpected, just when.
Make sure to save all the little configurations if you uninstall and revert to a previous version. Not sure if iTunes cleans those on an uninstall or not.

Thanks.
I don’t use Office/Outlook and never let Microsoft near my Apple devices so I wasn’t aware people use iTunes to sync Outlook installed on iPhones/iPads with desktop Outlook.
I don’t have an iphone or itunes to experiment with but on a lark I downloaded the free trial of Akruto mentioned above by @rebop2020 and set it up on Win 11 and synced my de-googled android with outlook. It worked well and fast. Not sure if it is a good long-term solution as I have seen a few complaining that their support is really slow and almost non-existent lately. In my reading I see people complaining about icloud and it appears it is only a 2-way sync whereas my client used itunes to overwrite the phone with Outlook info. Bah Humbug!
So, is this the version? Would love to know.
If so, just stay with 12.11.3.17
Apple downloads seems to stop at 12.10
https://support.apple.com/en_GB/downloads/itunes
It seems to be around on other sites. I personally have not tested anything after that.
@rebop2020 I will jump into his machine at the end of his workday today to check versions. Won’t be doing any mitigation steps until the weekend. Will let you know. Thanks for your info in this thread. Put me on the right track. Very timely!
Well just jumped in and checked and he’s on 12.12.3.5 which was updated in March. He’s not sure how long it has been failing sync. He just noticed it this week. One other thing he noted was when he set iTunes to have Outlook overwrite the phone it never “stuck”. It also hasn’t been launching on plugging in his phone which it used to do.
From what I have read on apple forums the sync is supposed to still be working with 12.12.3.5. IDK. May try to update or repair his 2016 Office which is build 15128.20224. Pain doing this remotely because I need him there with his phone for testing. Oh well, it shall be a learning experience for us both 🙂
In my experience, I would doubt it is office.
Seems you are indeed correct. Peple report 12.12.3 as still working. I cannot recall why I stopped udating after 12.11. Might have to look at the changelogs.
And makes your clients issue even harder to pinpoint.
Well just got the OK to go scorched earth this weekend and uninstall and delete everything itunes related and install the older standalone program. Just trying to decide if I should use the older 12.9 he had before or the 12.10 that’s available for download.
Wish me luck gang! BTW just finished a drive image so if it goes sideways I can recover.
Well this hasn’t been fun. Uninstalled the windows app of itunes and installed 12.10 version. It doesn’t recognize Outlook 2016 for contacts or calendar sync 🙁 Just did a repair install of Office hoping it helps. Hard part is not having him there to plug in phone to check as I play with it.
I wonder why it does not see Office. I’m sure you checked all the settings relating what is or is not synced.
Some interesting things (maybe):
Check to see which account in Outlook 2016 is designated as the default account. Apparently, iTunes only looks for Contacts that are in the DEFAULT Outlook account. When I set up my new CPU, I didn’t pay attention to which was the default account when I put in the Yahoo and Outlook.com accounts into Outlook 2016 on my CPU. The default account was NOT the account with the contacts in it. I recently noticed this discrepancy and I changed the default account to the local *.pst account. The next time I opened iTunes, my various Contact folders appeared under SETTINGS/ INFO / Selected Groups. When I synced, the contacts were copied without any problems to my iPhone.
I’ll assume you know all of this:
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/357421/itunes-sync-calendars-does-not-show-outlook
Good luck. This SHOULD work.
It worked! Client just notified me it worked and he’s happy as a peach! Thanks @rebop2020 for your contributions!
iTunes 12.12.6.1
Adding support for the new iPad Pro and iPad and addressing security vulnerabilities.
https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64
https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win32
That is my plan Paul, to stay with 12.12.4 until I hear that 12.12.6 or later still syncs with outlook.
For the benefit of others here having syncing problems, I went for months this summer on an earlier version not being able to use itunes to sync my iphone with outlook. I tried every tip I could find including removing every account from outlook except for my contacts and calendar. After searching the internet for many hours on this topic I found a forum thread in which people were saying that corrupted calendar events were the cause. To make a long story short, the problem was one corrupted calendar event I had that was a repeating event every third wednesday of the month. After removing it from both my iphone and outlook calendars they both started syncing again. The problem was the iphone. This event was created in outlook and the iphone did not like it. A second tier support person at apple told me that a corrupted calendar event can stop the whole sync process and not just that one event from syncing. I recreated the event on the iphone and it synced back with outlook.
Hope this is of help to others,
Ted
I took the plunge and updated itunes to 12.12.6. It stills sinks contacts and calendars with my Outlook 2010. I did have it stop syncing on me once again but after deleting my future Outlook calendar events the phone started syncing again. I saved the events that I deleted first just in case that didn’t solve the problem. I am convinced that all the unsolved problems with the iphone syncing through itunes that you read about on internet searches is due to an event that gets changed in Outlook somehow and the iphone cannot handle it so stops syncing altogether. The iphone is pretty finicky. I have synced my contacts and calendar events with my blackberry and outlook for decades without a problem. Unfortunately the Blackberry is no longer compatible with the new cellular network protocols otherwise I’d still be using it.
iTunes 12.12.8.2 for Windows
https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64
https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win32
Just took the plunge and installed itunes 12.12.8.2 for windows and am happy to report that it synced my contacts and calendar with Outlook 2010 on my windows 10 PC using a USB connection. It has been awhile since I have had a syncing issue but I also wanted to report that I stumble upon a much easier way than I described above to get my systems syncing again when they refuse to. I found that if an item refuses to sync, modifying it on my iphone than changing the mod back to the way it was will allow that item to sync with my PC. I have been syncing more often lately and that may be one reason that I have not had any issues lately. I can’t imagine that Apple of Microsoft finally decided to fix the problem. 🙂

Would anyone using iTunes to sync calendar and contacts from Microsoft Outlook check to see if this version still supports that feature? Apple announced they woul ddeprecate, but never mentioned when or in what version.
I’m on 12.11.3.17 and working as desired. Would love to update but only if I do not lose that capability.
Thanks.
I don’t have it (but I don’t use outlook…)

Thanks. I never thought thatif one did not have Outlook it would not appear. Hmmm.
I know about deprecating, which is why I asked. But Apple never has said when nor mentioned it in new updates. I know there are folks who say it still works in 12.12.8.xx Would be nice for me to update, still have this work and be able to use a newer iPhone.
It still syncs with Outlook in 12.12.10. No one in any forum could confirm for me. Some said it stopped syncing in Windows 11. I tested in 10 and all good.
Somewhere a few years ago I went from downloading from Apple to the Microsoft store. They do not make it easiy to go back to Apple. So I stayed. If I want to revert first must uninstall Apple Version and lots of libraries, syncs, etc I would have to screenshot to restore. But for now, does what I need and likely my last version. But you never know.
Just installed 12.12.10 on my windows 10 PC with installer obtained from Apple website. On first try it did not sync. I had to revert back to temporarily changing one item in each event and then changing it back to what I had to get my future events to sync with my Outlook desktop 2010. I’ve got to investigate into what is causing this. If I make any progress I’ll report back.
Ted
I’ve successfully synced my iphone SE and windows desktop Outlook 20210 twice with itunes v12.12.10 since my last post. I think the problem before is that I didn’t see the dialog box pop-up on my phone that required me to enter my passcode to proceed. The dialog box doesn’t last long and if you miss it itunes will tell you that it is finished but it will not sync.

Release notes (none so far)
Been a little lazy in updating. Just updated ITunes to 12.13.0.9 and tested. Then to 12.13.1.3 and tested. Then upgraded my iphone SE from IOS 16.7 to 17.2 and tested. All tests successfully synced.
My computer is an old slow thinkpad laptop with Windows 10 and Outlook 2010 Desktop.

Latest iPhone update 17.2 (maybe just in 17.2.1) breaks backup and sync to iTunes. Issue requires one to kill mdcrashreporttool.exe in processes or will hang at Preparing to Sync absolutely forever. A brilliant guy elsewhere found the solution. Many have sent feedback to Apple. Does not happen with older IOS or iPad as far as I see. My older iPad is still fine. So not an iTunes issue, iPhone issue.
Now, somewhere along the line I was enticed to switch from Apple iTunes to the Microsoft Store version. I cannot recall why.
Can I go back to the Apple version without losing ANYTHING? My playlists, music, synced photos, contacts, etc?
Do I want to or is it better to stay wit the M’soft version?
Appreciate your thoughts.
