I would hate to have to shovel that driveway! Where is the driveway!!? Someone’s stolen the driveway!!

    • #1192861

Hey, that looks suspiciously like my front yard. So why didn’t you shovel it for me?

That is a very BIG house!

I wrote “my home town”, not “my home”! That’s a church in the picture, of course, not a house!

Oh sure, you’re just afraid that Chris will suggest your house for the Human LED project he is trying to get going. Just think of how much fun he could have lighting up all those windows, with Jezza’s help of course (can you say KTS?)!

            • #1193517

Ah – you want to create a giant “Ditto” on the church walls!

Snow and fog, it would seem. ‘Sno joke!

It’s not really fog in that photograph – sight is limited because of the falling snow.

Contemporary public transport always seems to be surprised by seasonal weather; it’s one of the blessings of privatisation, I guess.

Here in Melbourne, it is the arrival of hot weather in summer that takes the (privatised) train system by surprise.

Where I live it’s every season – blossom on the rails in spring, expanding joints in summer, wet leaves on the rails in the autumn, and snow in the winter…

At least their compensation package seems to be quite good. If that were a US airline the compensation would be that you might get your baggage back, not necessarily intact.

Well, in my home town we had about 2mm of snow late last night and the chaos caused was huge. My comute to work this morning was worse than I can ever remember, due to the roads being badly frozen. I usually use a kettle of warm tap water to defrost the car windows, today took 4. There has been no defrost today either, so I fear a re-freeze tonight will cause further chaos tomorrow.

Lovely pic btw, wish I was there….

It’s very picturesque, but public transport has come to an almost complete standstill…

Oh, how I wish I could live there. I love snow. Don’t love driving in it much, but do love to look at it and walk in it. Here’s there’s just rain, rain, and more rain here. All the time except for one weekend in August.

We were trying to thaw out from some very cold and icy conditions. We were without power for four days and did not get it back until just about a week before Christmas. We did have some snow as well but the ice and frigid temperatures were the real problem.

And ski season is almost upon us. Not quite the base depth in Utah to go hammering off-piste yet. I can hardly wait. Here’s two reasons why, this first is just ridiculous:

And this is a bit too possible to laugh about:

      Messed up everthing.

      I HATE snow.

I know what you mean, we got hit by the same storm for +8 inches. In fact I thought I saw a story that indicated that Europe was getting whacked as well, a lot of snow and ice if I read it right.

I don’t hate snow I just don’t want so much all at once and I really prefer it fall somewhere I can look at it but not have to shovel it.

We had a little snow yesterday and it took me 5 hours to drive home from the shops. This journey usually takes about 20 minutes.

        Pah!

We had minimal fresh snow yesterday, but it still took me 4 hours to get home from the pub. This journey usually takes <1 minute.

That reminds me of this old one (it has doubtlessly been posted here before, but expired long since):

Mick, the bartender, says “You’ll not be drinking any more tonight, Paddy”.
Paddy replies “OK Mick, I’ll be on my way then”. Paddy spins around on his stool and steps off. He falls flat on his face.
“Shoot” he says and pulls himself up by the stool and dusts himself off.
He takes a step towards the door and falls flat on his face. “Shoot, Shoot!”
He looks to the doorway and thinks to himself that if he can just get to the door and some fresh air he’ll be fine. He belly crawls to the door and shimmies up to the door frame. He sticks his head outside and takes a deep breath of fresh air, feels much better and takes a step out onto the pavement. He falls flat on his face. “Bi’Jesus… I’m messed up !,” he says.
He can see his house just a few doors down, and crawls to the door and shimmies up the door frame, opens the door and shimmies inside. He takes a look up the stairs and says “No freekin’ way”. But he crawls up the stairs to his bedroom door and says “I can make it to the bed”.
He takes a step into the room and falls flat on his face. He says “Forget this, I gotta stop drinking,” and falls into bed. The next morning, his wife, Jess, comes into the room carrying a cup of coffee and says, “Get up Paddy. Did you have a bit to drink last night?”
Paddy says, “I did Jess. But how’d you know?”
“Mick called…… You left your wheelchair at the pub”.

… I hate snow as well – go figure, as we got 21 inches on Sunday.

However, Hans, the picture is stunning. Very nice.

In all honesty, I didn’t take those pictures myself, I got them from a local blog.
