“..isn't enough memory to complete…”

I’m still to get full details but the immediate error was:
There isn’t enough memory to complete the Automation object operation on the Document object.
Close unneeded programs and try the operation again.
For more information on freeing memory, search the Microsoft Windows Help index for ‘memory, troubleshooting’.

Just going to search further but any knowledgable suggestions would be welcomed.

The error could mean what it says (shortage of RAM) but it could also be caused by database bloat or corruption.

Try Compact and Repair first (Office button > Manage > Compact and Repair).

If that doesn’t help, you could try the following:
– Create a blank new database.
– Import all database objects from the problem database.
– Set the startup options and the VBA references as in the old database.
Hopefully the problem won’t occur in the new database.

Thanks Hans, compact and repair appears to have resolved error, although I think it would be prudent to copy and clean as well.
I’ve inherited management of the database from a ‘rogue’ db creator (I cannot use the term developer) so there’s lot’s to be cleaned up.
