Tonight, August 27, 2014, I got a message that Microsoft had released update KB 2993651, that will attempt to substitute for KB 2982791, an update that seemed to cause a lot of trouble, including BSOD’d. It was one of four updates Microsoft released on “Black Tuesday”, August 12. Microsoft withdrew the four about four days after they’d been released, and recommended everyone uninstall KB 2982791, the version that was for Windows 7, 64 bit. (I think they recommended uninstalling the other three, also.)
So now they have a “New, Improved” update they’re recommending I install, KB 2993651. I think I’ll wait and see.
Does anyone have experience with KB 2993651? And can anyone tell us how much risk there is if we don’t install it?
