I just purchased a refurbished laptop that has Windows 10 Home version 1511. I’ve set the wifi connection to metered and updated to the most current build of 1511. I want to stick with a Current Branch for Business. Is there still a way to update to 1607 or should I wait until 1703 becomes CBB?
Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 15, 2017 at 6:58 am #125033@anonymous check out Gunter Born’s web site theres info on there the links at the bottom of the page gives you all the availble flavours or Vers. of Win 10 and Win8.1 just download the iso save it for a backup and run it from the desktop or create a USB stick.

As for Win10 1703 your probably wise to hold off its not quite ready yet, for some reason it really doesent like my machine. After a typical “clean install”to a “Native Boot VHD” it for some reason crashes around about 12-15th reboot, after a major slowdown and normally after updating, taking the bcd bootrec with it. So I am still on 1607 which I have to say is as stable as a rock (despite its initial teething troubles early on)
I cant identify whats the cause of the ver 1703 instability, could be my machine or the fact 1703 doesent like being run in a VHD (which both sound like nonsense as they are supposed to do just that) Nothing I can quanify here hence I havent posted my issues. -

AskWoody_MVPJuly 17, 2017 at 10:53 am #125216you can still update from v1511 to v1607 but you’ll have to create installation media for the 1607 release as either a ISO based DVD disc or make a USB flash drive for it.
I never install feature updates thru Windows Update as WU may not do them cleanly.
So I always make either a DVD or USB flash stick and run the setup for the new version of Win10.
