I finally got a new windows 11 computer, ver. 24H2.
As I am setting it up including Drop Box, One Drive etc. I noticed that my 1TB drive is almost full.
Searching by size, I find the culprit. In user/me/OneDrive/desktop/my-old-computer/images
I find that this is 436GB.
I copied images to an external hard drive as I do still have that computer.
After coping, I started to delete the copy in the above folder.
BUT when I started, I got this message ‘Deleting and online-only folder permanently removes it from you PC without sending it to your recycle bin. Are you sure you want to continue?’
Of course, I stopped.
I then looked up my DropBox. The same thing seems to be happening, i.e. the entire contents of Dropbox are showing up and ‘used space’ on my hard drive.
Serval questions, please.
I thought on of benefits from placing thing in online storage was 1. they did not use your computer space [unless you saved them in both] . 2. you could look at them from all of your devices.
If the data is ‘online-only’ why is it showing up as used space on my PC?
How do I remove it [and other future files] from my PC with out removing them from the on-line storage, i.e. one Drive and DropBox?
