      I did my test Win10 upgrade a few weeks ago, and nowhere along the way did it ask me to provide a Microsoft ID (plus I’d never used that PC for anything internet-wise before, so there is no ID cached either), so it’d better work, although I really only did it on a test PC that I don’t ever plan on really using for Windows 10.

      The one point where it does ask you for full identification, blood sample, access to your body cavities, etc. is if you want Cortana functionality. Since I don’t trust Microsoft with that sort of data, I told it to go away.
