After I recently updated from FF 70.0.1 to 71, I was then transferred to a webpage giving info. about getting an “account” with Firefox.  They show some things that look like they may be use.

    Here’s the link I got:  https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/71.0/whatsnew/all/?oldversion=70.0.1

I’m just wondering what the pros and cons are to having this, and if anyone has it.

Being 20 something in the 70's was so much better than being 70 something in the insane 20's

You can synchronise your add-ons, history, favourites and passwords across multiple devices, though I think this may be a dubious benefit.  I find it especially intrusive when my FF on my iPhone pops up with stuff that I was browsing on my desktop in unrelated circumstances.

…and synchronizing uses the CLOUD! No thank you!

Back in 2017 I signed up for a support.mozilla.org account. I did this to ask/post questions in their forums. I didn’t use it often and when I went back recently and logged in, I was redirected to a new login page. It was to change my support account to a Firefox account.

I have read what the account offered but there was nothing I wanted to use. I’m not a “cloud” person for instance, but that’s me.

The Firefox browser as a stand alone App does what I want it to do, sans a few extensions/add-ons that I now use Waterfox for when needed.

      ymmv
