“IRS Has Filed Suit against You” Phone Scam

Today I received a phone call that played a prerecorded message advising that the IRS had filed suit against me and urging me to resolve the matter by calling (360) 474-4687 or (936) 585-5003. After writing down these numbers and hanging up, I was going to report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at (800) 366-4484, but I got sidetracked and will try to take care of this on Monday. There’s also a webpage (https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml) that provides a form to report such an incident. I hope some readers find this helpful.

That scam has been going for at least 2 years and I don’t think I know anyone personally that hasn’t gotten at least 10/20 of those calls. I have turned them in to FTC many times but nothing stops them.
