My iPad pro 10.5” has suddenly put itself in DFU-recovery-only mode, with completely black screen. No way to move it from there.

DFU-recovery-mode is fully destructive and unfortunately there is just a handful of files I’d like to recover from it.

I’ve been told by an Italian computer forensic engineer that there is absolutely no way to gain access to those files.

Do you know any piece of  software that I can try to use?

Do you know any serious paid service who I can entrust this matter and send my iPad to?

    Just to let you know:

I do not have any backup of those files

iTunes installed on Windows 10 pc says: device is in DFU recovery mode only

File Finder on iMac says: same as above

Apple support service at Apple Store says: forget about that.

    Thank you for helping.

I have to ask… whilst connected to iTunes via cable, have you tried force restarting it by holding down both the Home and Lock buttons together until the device reboots?

Sometimes it takes more than one attempt for it to take effect.

I’ve never tried it on an iPad Pro but I’ve used this on an ordinary iPad and on an iPhone to cancel my way out of DFU mode whilst connected to iTunes. I would be surprised if the Pro model was different.

However, if it’s a recent Pro model without a Home button then you’ll probably need to use the Top and Volume Down buttons instead to force restart/reboot instead.

Apologies if you’ve already tried this.

Thank you Rick. No need to apologise, I’ve tried so many times unsuccessfully. Maybe it dependes on how the device is affected.

Thank you Alex, I’ve been on this battleground for a couple of months now. Dr. Fone, Ultfone, Tenorshare and many more, they are all the same piece of software being sold under different brands, for the same price and automatic renewal subscrition scheme. They are no more and no less than iTunes, that’s why without it they can’t work.
