I have a regular correspondent who emails me Outlook meeting invitations.

My system recognises them enought to display the text message equivalent and to include an attachment representing the meeting.

If I open the attachment it looks exactly like a meeting and has a header that says “This meeting is not in the calendar, it may have been moved or deleted” with no options for doing anything useful with it. Anyone know what system is in need of a kick, and quite where to kick it?

(The generating system identifies itself in the mail headers as X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.0.6249.0)

The problem could be interference by one of the ISP gateways. Is your associate using Forward (which defaults to vCal), or another method of sending the invitations? Have your associate try forwarding as an iCal (with the meeting open, Actions | Forward as iCal).

I’m just invited directly as one of the invitees

Are you the only invitee who has the problem? Or the only invitee that is not on the same server as other invitees? Can you tell us a bit more?

No there is another invitee from our organisation who also has the same problem with the same invitations.
A problem in identifying the issue is that all our machines are clones of each other, and we all run off the same server – so the issue of repeating symptoms may or may not be significant. brickwall

I’ll go back to the originator and get them to send a test message which I’ll snapshot (and isolate what source Outlook will show me).

When I went back to the originator we discovered that the problem was their system (it has occurred before to others) – I’ll be following up with their administrator and post back if they don’t know what to do. We think it is something unclever in their SMTP service.
