• Invalid boot.ini file (XP)

I had a new hard drive installed and reimaged, and unfortunately, the main drive letter got assigned as F: instead of C:. I haven’t had that many problems with that, because the F drive is always recognized as the main drive. However, I am getting a message at boot up that states: “invalid boot.ini file booting from c:windows”. I have gone into the performance and maintenance tab, and it can’t find the boot.ini file. How can I fix this? I have been told I can do a repair to the installation, because perhaps when I was reloading all of my software, it could have corrupted that file.

Can anyone help me fix this? So far, it has not affected my working on the computer, but it may down the line.

    Thanks.

Okay…I fixed it by booting from the CD and using the bootcfg command to create a new boot.ini file.
