I am using W2K with Service Pack 2 and have installed Security Patch 1 (w2ksp2srp1.exe).

I now need to install the Internet Information Services (IIS) component.

If I install this, are some newer files going to be overwritten with older versions, or did these two service packs leave IIS alone?

In any case, security patches for Windows 2000 (and XP) are installed as Hotfixes, that means, they will re-apply themselves each time covered files versions changed to older. You can see it – it is in your %WINDIR%Installer folder.

You can add and remove any Windows components without re-applying patches – untill SP3 or SRP2 will be posted.
