Hello,

Every now and then, when my computer goes to sleep and then tries to go to hibernate mode, it is unable to get into hibernation mode. If find the computer turned on with a message that says, “Windows – System Error. Insufficient system resources to complete the API.” I am attaching a document that has the actual error message window copied into it.

Does anyone know what is causing this?

See The computer occasionally does not hibernate and you receive an “Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API” error message in Windows XP with Service Pack 2, in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, or in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

It’s interesting that one line in that MS link says that one possible cause of the error is on machines that have 1 OR MORE GIGS of memory installed!

While I see that it needs contiguous memory, it still seems illogical to think that more is NOT better? Different way of thinking I suppose. Once upon a time, it was said that there is never too much memory.

During hibernation, the contents of RAM memory are written to disk. Apparently, the original version of the code that handles this hadn’t taken into account that users would ever have 1 GB RAM.
