I’ve relatively hit a strange problem. I may have had it for awhile, but I’ve only recently figured out what is causing it (but not how it starts).
I’ll double-click my IE shortcut and nothing happens. So of course I try it again. Sometimes I notice I’m having strange problems with other programs. I can’t seem to close them, or they don’t seem to properly refresh the screen.
I’ll open Task Manager, and there is an instance of IE running. I delete it, and all of a sudden everything works. The other instances of IE I wanted start appearing. All the other programs now work fine, etc. I’m not sure if there was somehow an instance of IE left in memory from before (what I suspect), or if my first “double-click” didn’t properly load.
MSKB had an article which described a somewhat similar situation; but I think it was an XP SP1 problem and the resolution was getting new SP (and I already have SP3).
