I’ve been trying to install PowerQuest’s Drive Image 2002 on my Win2k machine. It errors out during the install routine with…
“1607: Unable to Install Installshield Scripting Runtime”.
Initial queries on the web have suggested that this is part of the Windows Installer. I’m not sure where to begin with this one. Please help.

      Solution: Return DI 2002!

I did. The thing was generating errors all the time and PQ’s support is nearly worthless. I switched to Paragon’s Hard Disk Manager 5.5 which has everything PQ has and more, including ability to reset cluster sizes on NTFS disks. Make no mistake, Paragon has its own share of problems, but at least I only paid $50 for a partition manager, imager, drive encryption, and a few other utilities. And they do respond to email, even though I think they are based out of Russia. PQ utilities have changed little over the years, while their prices have escalated signifiicantly and support has deteriorated.

      Check Paragon info here:

I found a solution and thought I’d post it for the benefit of others. There is an update to the Windows Installer from InstallShield. It can be found here: http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.a…ticleid=Q105097%5B/url%5D
