When we installed a standalone version of FrontPage 2000 at work (Win98 computer, Office 2000 Professional already installed) it was a disaster. When we called the techie guys to come and fix it, they told us they had seen numerous cases where installing the standalone version caused lots of problems even though one would certainly expect it to be compatible with the Office 2000 suite. Their solution was to uninstall it, fix as many of the problems as possible, and then re-install it into it’s own folder. That has worked just fine on both my work computer and my laptop (laptop went directly to own folder – skipped the regular install and had no problems).
I now need to install FrontPage on a new computer at home (where I don’t have a techie guy to call!). Due to my previous experience, I am inclined to install FrontPage in it’s own folder (this computer runs on Win XP and has Office 2000 installed). I am doing a custom install so that I can choose the appropriate folder.
My question is: Do I need to install the “Office Tools” and “Converters and Filters”, or are those already installed with my Office 2000? (If they are, will they work with FrontPage if FP is in its own folder?)
Thanks in advance for any tips.
