Our charity has a new PC with Windows XP Pro and Office XP Pro with Frontpage, but without Publisher 2002. I’d like to install Publisher 2000 because we have the software – but anticipate problems (?) if I install a 2000 program on a basically Office XP setup machine.

Any advice please? Should install into a completely different directory, is it just a completely bad idea because Office will get its .dll’s muddled up, or should I stop worrying… (- hmm, well, it is Microsoft!) ?

I think that you should take the plunge and you will be pleasantly surprised. I am running Publisher 2000 on Windows XP with no problems. I am still using Office 2000 including FrontPage but Pub 2000 should be fine even with the rest of Office being XP especially if you let it install itself in the default location of Windows choosing. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks. It may take a while!

Make sure to skim through the other posts on making various versions of Office co-exist. You sometimes get annoying dialogs about the applications being installed, and worse problems…
