I have a new Win7 laptop, which came with Office 2010 trial version. I have installed my legal copy of Office 2003, for temporary use, with no problem. I plan to buy Office 2010 Pro and install it. Will the new install delete the trial version? Should I delete it first?
I assume that 2010 will retain the settings of 2003 when I upgrade.

You should have uninstalled the Office 2010 trial version before installing Office 2003. It is important to install Office from the oldest version to the newest.

I’d uninstall both versions and then reinstall Office 2003. When you install Office 2010 you’ll be able to decide whether to replace Office 2003 or run both versions. Unless there is a really good need to retain Office 2003 I recommend letting Office 2010 replace it.

      Howard,

You might want to check this site for tips and training for Office 2010, there is a small (I thought so anywhere) learning curve. If you Google Office 2010 tutorial you will find many other such sites. This just happens to be from MS.

      Ted,
Thanks for the link to the tutorial. It’s time I got familiar with the ribbon! However, my wife ‘s first reaction will probably be “Why did that have to change the menus?”

No problem. Even my wife got used to the ribbon. Once you feel comfortable with it, start customizing. It’s kind of neat.

I agree with this. Some apps are much better with the ribbon. One that I think benefited a lot was Outlook. Outlook 2010 is the most pleasant version of Outlook I have used, much because of the ribbon interface.

Exactly, it comes quite simple to handle.
