I was installing the latest version of VMWare Player on my new notebook when I received the attached error message.

It refers to “‘vc_red.msi’ is on a network resource that is unavailable”. I could not locate the file on the laptop.

How can I solve this problem, that is beyond my knowledge.:(

I have a previous version of VMWare Player running fine on my older laptop and had no such problem installing the virtual machine.

    Any help is welcome.

    Regards,

    Flores

….Check this link – hope it helps

        Hi Rich,

        Two things happened:

1- I uninstalled VMW, and re-installed the Player. Got the same message again, but then I choose one of the three sources available at the windows “Windows Installer”, and the installation proceeded ahead nicely.
It is working fine, but I still did not install the driver for my old HP flatbed scanner, the reason for my Virtual Machine running XP SP3.
HP doesn’t make drivers for this scanner anymore. The last one available was for the XP machines.

2 – If I install the driver and the scanner works OK I will be happy. If not, then I will install what is suggested on the link you sent me.

        Many thanks for your help.

        Regards,
        Flores

I have VMware player on my 8.1 with no problems. I used VMware-player-6.0.3-1895310.exe.

      cheers, Paul

        Hi Paul,

I’m using the same version as yours.

Please, see what I wrote to Rich on this thread.

        Thanks for your testimony.
