A program recently installed is not appearing in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. I am logged in as an Administration, no other users.

I found an aritcle in the Knowledge Base about the DisplayName being too long so I checked the registry. The Display Name is only 20 characters.

Any other ideas? I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling and still not showing.

What program is it? Some, especially older free/shareware, installs are unaware of “Add/Remove Programs”, or just ignore it.

Will I still receive assistance if I say “Corel WordPerfect Suite 2002” angel

        LOL

laugh Not from me. sorry I’m an O2K (ab)user. Well, maybe a few suggestions, while waiting to see if someone knows.

          • Check any log files the install may have created for clues. Possibly in your “Documents and Settingsyour-idLocal SettingsTemp”.
          • Check out Corel’s online support and FAQs (probably been there, done that, but

I stopped upgrading with Corel Suite 2000 (version 9) but mine IS listed in Add/Remove as “Corel Applications.” I do think you ought to follow Tim’s detective work and especially check any install logs that might have gotten created. Failing that, I’d try a call or email to them just to see what they say. They have in the past been pretty faithful about sticking to the Windows procedures. Did you perhaps “confuse” the installer by choosing a non-default location for the programs? Did you look at the complete list shown in Add/Remove to see if maybe they’ve listed it as “WordPerfect” or some other unusual name?

It is not located in Programs | WordPerfect Office 2002 | Set-up and Notes | Corel uninstaller?
Also on the corel CD the uninstaller is in Coreluninst32.exe

The program is installed and is listed under Start, All Programs. I’m just wondering why it’s not being listed in Add/Remove. I can, however, use uninstall supplied w/ WP.

Good question – I do not know! Strange things happen in MS operating systems – generally there is always a method available to uninstall a program that is not listed in add/remove. – too many possibilities and best to reinstall to get it back into add/remove programs.

You can put it on the list manually. To do so:
              1. Start Registry Editor (Start | Run, type REGEDIT and hit Enter).
              2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall
              3. Right-click on the right pane and from pop-up menu choose New | Key. Name key “Corel WordPerfect Suite 2002”
              4. Double.click your new key, right-click on the right pane (you will see the only entry Default, Value not Set) and from pop-up menu choose New | String Value. Name it DisplayName (one word, case-sensitive – type it exactly as it is).
              5. Right-click DisplayName and from pop-up menu choose Modify. On the next dialog type “Corel WordPerfect Suite 2002” (without quotas) in Value Data box. Click OK button.
              6. Right-click on the right pane once again and create a new string value. Name it UninstallString (exactly as it is).
              7. Modify value as described in p.5 and type “C:Program FilesCoreluninst32.exe” (or wherever your uninst32.exe is) WITH QUOTAS in Value Data box. Click OK button.
              8. Close Registry Editor and check Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. WordPerfect Suite must be on the list.

The key is already there, is it safe to create another?
