I’m getting ready to install the January CU.

Per #2740784 Should I install the New Outlook.reg download blocker file Before or After installing the January CU, but before the February CU?  Or does it matter?

Any reports that the .reg blocker file interferes with the CU update installations?

Before, and reboot, if you want to block New Outlook. If you don’t use Outlook, don’t bother.

I use Retail MS Office 2016 which has Outlook Classic which I want to continue to utilize.

Just to clarify, does the New Outlook come with the January or February CU?

And: Regarding January or February CU’s

Any reports that the .reg blocker file interferes with the CU update installations?

Just to clarify, does the New Outlook come with the January or February CU?

Per this article on MS’s site:

The new Outlook for Windows will be automatically installed on Windows 10 devices as part of the optional Windows 10 release on January 28, 2025, and more broadly released as part of the monthly security update release for Windows 10 on February 11, 2025.

So, it’s supposed to be only installed on Windows 10 machines with either the preview update that was released on January 28th or with the regular monthly security update coming on February 11th.

HOWEVER, there have been reports from folks here on AskWoody that they had new Outlook installed on their machines after they completed installing the January monthly security update that was released back on January 14th. One such post is #2744028 from DrCard:)) ( @wsdrcard ) in a thread about previews being just previews and nothing more.

that turned out to be the KB5051974 update released Tue. Feb. 11

fortunately, Win10 LTSC editions (including LTSC 2021) are not affected by this as the new Outlook app does not get installed on LTSC
