I am trying to help a neighbor

They used the control panel to uninstall a HP printer. Now they would like to re-install it.

When they put in the HP disk, it starts but then it comes up with the error “cannot open installation log file” when you say OK it then just stops the install.

They wrote HP and they came back and said to run the “uninstall bat file’ that is on the disk in the Until/CCC folder. I looked and there is NO uninstall bat file in that directory, (or anywhere else on the disk.)

Since they are asking to run a uninstall bat file, I am thinking that they want to complete a uncomplete uninstall.

Is there another way to completely remove a HP printer and then to re-install??

If the printer still shows in control panel | printers – delete it.

For the software check add/remove programs and see what HP software is installed.

You can also try a tool like Revo Uninstaller Freeware – Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems.
