    Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to automatically insert a 6 pt space at the end of tables so there is a slight space between the table and the paragraph that follows, without having to manually insert a space each time. I am attaching a document sample to better visualize what I mean.

    Kind regards,

If you don’t want to mess with the Normal style, as the final para in your doc says, would you consider creating a style to use after a Table (called something like “After Table”) that is the same as Normal but with 6 pt before?

If you commonly put in a table like the one you show, you could also think of creating a table like the one you have there, but blank, plus a following paragraph in the After Table style and designating it all as a piece of autotext. You could even have a toolbar button to insert it, so that whenever you click the button, you get a table set the way you like it followed by a paragraph with the appropriate spacing.

I wold do this by creating an extra row at the bottom of the table. with no fill and no left, right or bottom border. Set the text in this row to 6pt with no space before or after. In Table Options make sure there is no gap between the text and the top / bottom of the cell.

      Like this.

Brilliant! Thank you, Stuart. I’m adding your suggestion to my bag of tricks.

Thanks for your suggestions; but is there no way to treat a table like a paragraph, where you can simply add 6 pt before or after? I suppose not…

If you make a table floating, you can specify the distance from the rest of the text in the Table | Table Properties dialog, but in most cases tables work better if they’re inline with text. The property you want doesn’t exist for inline tables, so you’ll have to use one of the suggestions provided in this thread, such as creating an “After Table” style and applying it to the paragraph following a table, or to add a borderless row at the bottom of the table.
