I recently upgraded to IE 5.5 SP2 and since then Outlook 2K SR1 will not
allow me to insert a picture in the body of HTML mail. I can browse to the
picture file but when I locate it and click OK, the Picture window will not
close. If I try to copy and paste, Outlook inserts it as an attachment and
not in the body of the message. I can insert the picture as a background image but
then it is tiled and I don’t want that.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional SP2, IE 5.5 SP2 and Outlook 2000 SR1, and don’t have a problem inserting pictures (GIF or BMP) into HTML mail messages.

When I go to a new message, I must be in the body of the message (not TO:, CCsmile and then the option to INSERT -> OBJECT is availabe, and you then choose “Create from File”, and then browse to the file, and select it, and choose OK. Make sure you don’t have the “Display as Icon” checked.

Is this the procedure you are following? If so, does an image program (i.e. MS Photo Editor) open up when you are trying to insert the picture?
