We have several computers here that will allow the user to find a thumbnail of a jpeg in Windows Explorer and then drag and drop that jpeg into Word. It actually copies the picture into the document.

Of course, this does not work for everyone. We have one computer where the end result is an icon with the filename. Doubleclicking the icon starts up the Imaging program that is associated with the jpeg filetype. If the picture is inserted via the menu commands (Insert – Picture – From File), it works correctly.

I am not sure where to look or what to change to make this machine act like the others.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m not sure about that, but be aware that file size grows enormously when you drag and drop jpegs – much better to use Inster/Picture/From File – slightly slower, but you end up with a reasonably sized file.

PS: At least that’s what happened to me.
