Inlineshapes are black boxes (Office 2000 / Word)

Hi,

I have an odd problem.

Graphics – content of my inlineshapes are not visible – the object is just marked by the six black squares in the corners.
(this only happens when they are “in line with text”)

Other shape types are fully visible.

Does anyone know if there’s a reg key or any other type of setting that controls this?
– or if there is some way that I can change this “feature”.

Select Tools | Options…
In the View tab, clear the “Picture Placeholders” check box, then click OK.

What’s it good for?
– and why does it only do it to Inline shapes ?

There are two settings involved:
– Checking “Picture Placeholders” will display inline pictures as outlines only.
– Clearing “Drawings” will hide floating shapes, such as drawing objects etc.
This will speed up scrolling through a document, especially with long documents and on older machines with slow processors or limited memory.

Note: since floating shapes will be hidden completely if you clear the “Drawings” check box, just like in Normal view, you won’t know how the printed document is going to look. And, of course, you won’t be able to edit the floating shapes.
