    Does anyone know of any program that will search for a word in a collection of Publisher 2000 files? Or any index program that will read them?

      Driscoll,

      No, this is not an option in Publisher 2000. You do have this ability with Publisher 2002, as it supports macros/vba and should be able to search a closed file.
