When I click the ‘Index’ icon in the Help and Support Center, all I get is a small icon in the left window and a brief description of Index in the right window. No box for entering the information to be found.

Also if I use the ‘normal’ help system, and click on a ‘Related Topics’ link, the only result is the addition of another small icon in front of the ‘Notes’ (if this exists) and nothing else.

I’ve tried doing a repair re-install, but this has no effect.

    Any help appreciated…

Chris, Take a look here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm%5B/url%5D in the ‘H’ section for several entries on XP help.

Thanks, Joe, especially for pointing me in the direction of a great resource.

Actually I found out that the culprit is the April 2003 Cumulative Patch for IE6 SP1, (Q813489) from Microsoft. Removing that solved the problem.

Once again proved the maxim that installing MS updates is a risky business!
