I started to create an index, but the index codes showed in the main doc, even though I had the Options | View | Show |

While you can’t hide only part of the hidden text, you could “compress” the index entry to be less of a visual distraction. Try this:

1. Create a new character style with these attributes:
   • Font: Arial Narrow, 6 pt; Character Spacing condensed by 2 pt
   • Font: (Optional) color dark red

I named mine “SlimDex” but you can choose any name you like.
