I have worked with lists for many years in word and they are always challenging to get right. I am still trying to get up to speed on Word 2007. I created a new multi-level list style to help with some strange indenting behavior when restarting at 1. Before doing this, when I clicked the Increase Indent toolbar button, it changed the list level to the next level down. Now, when I click the Increase Indent toolbar, it just increases the indent without changing the list level (for example, it does not change from a “1.” to an “a.”.

What is going on here and how to do I fix it so that the indent button changes the list level again?

    Thanks!!
    Troy

Maybe you have set up a list that stops counting after several levels? Edit the list format and add additional levels.

      cheers, Paul
