Looks like I need to re-build a Db.
Anyone know if it is possible to import relationships from another Db, including the relationship diagram?
Also is it possible to make all tables in a Db replicable at the one time. There are about 80 tables and doing this one by one would take ages.
If these 2 things can’t be done using the Db interface, then the code for doing them would be great.

Which database are you using? MS Access? Which version?

      Thanks for the reply Stephane.
I’m used to the old Woody’s Lounge where there was an Access forum.
      I am using Access 2003

Sorry Peter, I’ve been travelling over the holidays and didn’t get a chance to reply to your replication post. I gather you have concluded your design master is “toast” and you need to recreate it. In general you can import relationships (and other objects such as import/export specs) by clicking on options when you do the import and selecting the appropriate things. However, doing that from a replicated database raises some additional issues. Replication in Access adds some additional fields to each replicated table, and as I recall, those fields will be imported into your new database. To be completely safe, I think you will have to remove all the replication fields manually once you have imported the tables.

As to your question about programming replication, yes, it can be done – but it requires that add a reference to the JRO library, and it is not for the faint of heart! The subject is beyond the scope of what we can do in a thread in the Lounge, but the details can be found in some of the older Access books. I believe there is coverage of it in The Access Developers Handbook if you have the 2000 or 2002 version, and Rick Dibson’s book “Programming Microsoft Office Access 2002″ has the most complete coverage of the subject that I have seen in Chapter 13. Hopefully you can lay your hands on one of those.

Finally, it would help to understand the situation you are trying to deal with, and whether or not replication is the right choice for it. If you haven’t seen it, our Replication Tutorial might be informative.
