I’ve recently moved to Office 2000 and Windows 2000 from Office 97 and Windows NT.

In Excel 97 I used Data/Get External Data to set up a Microsoft Query link to a query within an Access 97 database.

When I try to do the same in the Office 2000 versions, I can only see the tables in the Access database, not the queries.

Is there some way to get at the Access queries?

    Ian.

      Hi Ian,
I think this happens if you try and do a query on an Access 97 database. If it’s an Access 2000 one, you should be able to get at the queries too. For some reason though, it seems that if you convert a database from 97 to 2000, a query from Excel2000 still won’t show the queries, only the tables. I imagine (haven’t tested it) that if you imported everything from the newly converted database into a blank 2000 database, it should work OK.
      Hope that helps.
PS Nope, I don’t know why! doh

Thanks Rory. As you suggested, importing everything into a new database solved the problem. The joys of compatibility!

        Thanks again.

        Ian.
