I’m including an image on some of my forms, but I’d like to have the image background transparent (so the form’s Back Color shows through) — e.g., along the lines of specifying a transparent color for a gif image or using the Set Transparent Color tool in MS Word. Problem is, no matter what image type I use (bmp, jpg, gif, etc.), the background color shows, replacing the form’s background color.

Is there any way to do this?

Your best bet will be using a graphic editor (like Paint Shop Pro) to modify your image to have the same background color as your form. The only concern is that some users may have a different color scheme on their computers. You will want to specify a background color for your form so it will not change from one machine to another.

      Hope this helps…

        Mark,

Your suggestion is what I have been doing; i.e., “forcing” the form color and matching the backgrounds on my images to this color). But now I’m trying to switch over some of my forms so that they inherit the Windows defaults for colors (e.g., using -2147483633 as the BackColor, which will then match the Windows “3-D Face” color, whatever it might be on a given computer). The rub then, of course, is that I don’t necessarily know what the form BackColor is going to be so I can’t color my images accordingly. Making the image background transparent would solve this problem.

Anyone else know of a way to do this? …Anyone? …Anyone? (The naive Office user would scream “If you can do it in Word, why can’t you do it in Access?”)

        Thanks.

Sorry but as far as I know, it can’t be done. The image control is simply a frame for the image and like other controls such as subfrom controls, you can’t make it transparent. On the other hand, it’s perfectly possible to set the form’s picture property to a graphic and that will cover the form no matter what the windows colors are set to.
