I am using Word 97. At work, I have a document, created by someone else, that is 350 pages long and contains a TON of photograhs tables. All display and print fine, except the 3rd one from the beginning of the document. It displays as a big red X. I tried deleting it when I couldn’t figure out how to get it to display or print, but when I delete it, then the next image becomes a red x (it was fine before). This is driving me nuts! I tried re-scanning the photo as a jpg and re-inserting it. It will display/print fine on a one page document, but when I insert it into this large document, it returns to a red x. Is there a limit to the number of graphics you can insert into a document? If so, why would it be the 3rd one that doesn’t work, instead of the last one in the document.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 23, 2001 at 4:28 am #515975There is an extensive article about this issue on the Microsoft Knowledge base: Q162349
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar…s/Q162/3/49.asp
Basically: Get to sr-1 & better sr-2
But that won’t alter existing docs.
The objects are still there. Select the object, do copy & paste into an image editor. Delete the object in word and recopy/paste from the image editor.
But do this on 97/sr-1 ot 2 else the Big Red X can return.Bob_D
