    Our standard firm letter template has an image inserted inline into the header of the document. Recently, we have started to receive calls that this image is printing with a line around it (said line has been described as a border, a shadow and a line by different people – see example to choose your own description). Deleting and reinserting the image as a different file type (a TIF instead of a bmp) seems to solve the problem. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix since the bmp image is in every letter created in the past three years. I suspect that this is partially a printer driver issue because it tends to appear only when using certain printer drivers. However, the drivers that seems to cause this problem, the LaserJet 4000 and 4100 PCL 5e , are the ONLY driver that we have found that solves every single other Windows XP printing issue we have had. So I need to find a way to fix this without scrapping our driver. Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to fix it? I know it’s a long shot, but HELP!!! I’ve attached an example of what the line looks like. . .

      Oddly, I don’t see any line/border in that PDF. Perhaps it isn’t using the HP driver?

      Is the image a “linked” or “embedded” object (in which case, Alt+F9 yields something like {

        It’s just a picture that was inserted into the template via Insert Picture from file. However, I have more information that may make this more or less difficult to solve. Since posting the original message I saw a print out of what the users are seeing, and it is different than what I see. Apparently, my issue (which was in the attachment) only happens when generating a pdf file. The issue others are seeing is similar except that instead of the line around the image, the image prints like it it is shaded. However, I no longer think that it is driver related because I can print the same document to the same printer using the same driver as those having the problem and not get the shading.
