this is driving me mad every time i wish to stream a file down .can any one suggest a way forward

Sounds more like the site is busy or down than a problem with your computer. Unless, of course, this happens with every streaming file (audio or video). Then I wold suspect a setting in your browser.

this happens with a lot of sites not just one, I have suspected a setting in my browser. but do not know which one to change, having looked at them all.
can you suggest what i might have missed, or where i should start looking at

I am assuming from your original post that you are referring to streaming video. Does this affect all formats? For example, YouTube uses Flash, Apple uses QuickTime, some sites use Windows Media Player, some others use Real. Can you isolate particular types of media as problems?

in my case this happens from a particular site that a friend tried to visit via my pc (not one i would usually visit). the site address is ******* if you are willing to send me a personal email i will give you full details of the site. so that you can try it

Sounds a bit sketchy. Perhaps we should both ignore your friend’s problem and just go about our business as usual.
