Work associate on XP Pro (not SP1) gets vb error when accessing links on our internal web site.

    Microsoft VBScript runtime error ‘800a000d’
    Type mismatch: ‘CLng’
    /Includes/COMMUNE.INC, line 121

I log in to his box and the login process creates my profile and when I perform the same operations I have no issues and access all sites without the VBScript issue.

Can someone point me to where to check settings for client or whether there is a refresh of IE or Windows scripting which may be helpful?

    Thanks,

    Jester

Jester, What group does the user belong to? When you login are you in the administrator’s group?

I am logging as admin equivalent, user is a standard user. Users at this level are able to perform such tasks and this particular client was functioning normally just a few days ago.

What was changed on that PC? Can you do a system restore to a point when it did work?

Do you have script debugging enabled in your profile? Try turning it on in Tools>Internet Options…>Advanced and see if you get the same error. If the original error message is to be belived, there is an error in the .INC file, but not one so fatal that anyone else has noticed it!

I am going to argue that it is NOT the turning ON or OFF of Script Debugging that is the problem — although most people assume it is. INSTEAD, it is the “Display a notification about every script error” box that is the problem. Have the user UNCHECK that box and the message should disappear.

[Rationale: If a user does NOT have the Script De###### installed, then checking the “Disable script debugging” box does absolutely nothing. If they DO have the Script De###### installed, then instead of that warning box, the Script De###### is lauched. Since neither of these options fit with what the user describes, I must believe the problem is NOT in turning the De###### off and on, but instead is simply due to the Display of unneeded notifications. JMHO.]

That’s what I meant. At midnight I am a little less attentive to the fine points…this should clear it up. grin

(Most people want the OPPOSITE of my settings.)

EXACTLY! I may have to steal your most excellent image and use it in the future. Thanks.
