I want to find the IE icon.

I read about a program called Sandboxie that ‘quarratines’ the browsing experience. I would like to hide the Sandboxie icon on the desktop under an IE icon so that my users do not know that they are using anything different.

But I cannot find the icon to go with the shortcut.

It should be available from iexplore.exe.

hmmm… should. My users always worry when I say this ‘should’ happen.

But how do I get access to it? If I look at the properties of the desktop icon for IE, and choose Change Icon, there are a number of options there for me to choose from. They are in the directory that I would expect to find them (ie program filesinternet explorer) but when I look at that directory, there are no icons.

        Am I missing something here?

The icons are imbedded in ieplore.exe. You should be able to select it and get quite a number to choose.

            Maybe I am missing something.

How do I choose the one that I want? I want to use the icon for another program. Yes, I can see that there are a number of icons that I can use if I want to change the icon for IE.

But I want to use the IE icon to disguise another program. How do I do that?

When you are in the change icon dialog for the other program ‘push’ the browse button and navigate to where IE is installed. Click on iexplore.exe and you should be able to select one of its icons.

              Thanks, Joe.

I had been thinking that I needed to find the file that was the icon and copy it to somewhere else. Wrong stream of thought.

This has worked for me, and I now have an icon on my desktop that looks like it is for IE, but in fact runs Sandboxie.
