AskWoody LoungerOctober 5, 2017 at 8:59 am #135456Edge is a OK browser but does little to sway users away from a Chrome or Firefox and enterprise is still stuck with IE. I really think Microsoft targeted Edge towards enterprise to replace IE. But I think Edge has been soundly rejected and its taken far too long to polish it up to even compete. Now that Windows mobile is all but dead, and this ideal of UWP seems out of place now that Windows is mostly a desktop OS again. One has to question Edge and its ties to just Windows 10 as a browser? Sure a few won’t mind Edge in Windows 10S but that’s not going to attract a lot of Windows users. I think Microsoft is in a conundrum about where Win 10 is going?

InactiveOctober 5, 2017 at 10:55 am #135465Am I doing something wrong? I am viewing this on a Win 10 computer using Edge. I find Edge satisfactory for my Internet access. I do not feel at all that it is a poor choice as a browser. However…
I use Chrome on a Samsung Tablet about ten (as in Win 10?) times more often. Maybe I am not doing something wrong after all.
I suggest that Microsoft’s real concern ought not to be which browser I use, but rather which physical “tool” I use to access the Internet. It is my desktop computer that is seeing less and less use, especially now that I am retired and do not generate tons of text as a science professional.

Wonder how many will adopt as their browser?

ManagerOctober 5, 2017 at 12:13 pm #135477That’s the big question but, of course, that won’t show up in these statistics (which are Desktop OS only).
Personally, I don’t think Edge on Android or iOS will go anywhere. No reason for it, except syncing tabs (which doesn’t yet work on Edge, and Chrome already does better).

Agree Woody, also what a waste of resources! It’s anchored from the offset compared to the alternatives too late..OOPS! missed the boat again.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 6, 2017 at 6:30 am #135576I definitely will try it out for my android tablet…
Tried all android browsers and rolled back to chrome as the least poor choice of the bunch. My internet visits are centered around a large set of bookmarks, so if Edge handles these as smart as IE11 does, then Edge surely will be my future android browser.
Didn’t see that one coming!
